The Present Continuous Tense
The continuous group denotes action in development, which takes place at a certain moment in the present, past or future. This action is incomplete and recorded only at one moment. The Present Continuous Tense indicates a long-term action taking place at the moment speech. This moment can be indicated by the adverb now, or it may be obvious from the situation. To compare the present long lasting with a real simple time that the latter means an action that is performed in general (not now), regularly, from time to time:
Students learn English at higher schools (in general).
Don’t disturb him; he is learning English for his exam (now). The present continuous form is expressed by the to be (present simple) + ing-form of the main verb:
I am doing something; He (she, it) is doing something; We (you, they) are doing something.
